Wi-Fi Survey & Installation

Eliminate dead zones with professional wireless surveys.

Most business Wi-Fi problems are not solved by adding more access points. They are solved by understanding why the existing coverage is uneven, which usually comes down to: APs in the wrong locations, channels overlapping, power set too high (or too low), or building materials eating signal in places nobody anticipated. Adding more APs to a poorly designed network usually creates new problems rather than solving the old ones.

MCR Business Tech Solutions runs professional Wi-Fi surveys for businesses across the Greater Pittsburgh area, Kittanning, Armstrong County, and the surrounding region. Predictive modeling before any hardware moves. Active surveys with calibrated tools to confirm what the model predicted. Recommendations grounded in your actual building, not a generic best-practices document.

Common situations we get called for: dead zones in conference rooms or far corners, dropped Zoom calls during the busiest part of the day, warehouse Wi-Fi that fades the further you get from the office, retail floors where the inventory scanners disconnect every few minutes, and multi-tenant offices where the neighbors' Wi-Fi is interfering with yours. All of these are diagnosable. Most are fixable without replacing your existing equipment.

A complete survey produces a heatmap of predicted and measured coverage, an AP placement plan, channel and power settings, a capacity analysis (especially for high-density spaces like classrooms or retail floors), and a written summary explaining what we found and what we recommend. You leave the survey understanding why your Wi-Fi behaves the way it does, and what specifically would change to fix it.

What's included

Predictive Site Survey

We model your space in survey software using floor plans and construction details, predicting coverage before any hardware is installed.

Active Site Survey

Real-world signal measurements taken throughout your space with calibrated tools. Confirms predictions and surfaces interference sources the predictive model missed.

Dead-Zone Elimination

Identification and remediation of dead zones (loading docks, basements, far corners) through targeted access-point placement and antenna selection.

High-Density Planning

Conference rooms, classrooms, retail floors, warehouses with picking-team density. Capacity planning so 30 devices on one AP do not bring everyone to a crawl.

Channel & Power Tuning

RF planning to minimize co-channel interference, especially in mixed-tenant buildings. Power tuning to match coverage to your actual square footage.

Multi-AP Deployment

Centrally managed access points with seamless roaming for users moving through the building. Cloud-managed dashboards for ongoing visibility.

Why businesses choose MCR

Predictive + Active

Predictive modeling using your floor plans, then active measurements in the actual space. The combination catches what either approach alone would miss.

Vendor-Independent

We are not pushing a specific brand of access point. We use the right hardware for the situation. Sometimes that is what you already own, sometimes it is not.

Capacity, Not Just Coverage

A coverage map shows where signal reaches. A capacity analysis shows whether 30 devices on one AP are going to bring everyone to a crawl. We do both.

Actionable Output

You get a survey report you can act on, with specific AP locations, channel assignments, and power settings. Not just a pretty picture.

Getting started

01

Predictive Survey

We model your space in survey software using floor plans and construction details, predicting coverage before any hardware is installed or moved.

02

Active Measurement

On-site survey with calibrated tools, walking the space and recording signal strength, interference, and capacity at hundreds of points.

03

Recommendations

Heatmap, AP placement plan, channel and power settings, capacity analysis, and written summary. With recommendations you can implement (with us or with your existing IT).

Frequently asked questions

How is a Wi-Fi survey different from just adding more access points?

Adding more APs without a survey usually creates new problems (co-channel interference, roaming issues, uneven coverage). A survey identifies the right NUMBER, the right LOCATIONS, and the right SETTINGS. The result is fewer APs doing more work.

Do you handle warehouse and shop-floor Wi-Fi?

Yes. Warehouses, shops, and industrial spaces have unique challenges (metal racking, concrete floors, forklift interference). We design specifically for those environments using rugged APs and directional antennas where appropriate.

What does a Wi-Fi survey actually produce?

A heatmap showing predicted and measured coverage across your space, an AP placement plan, channel and power settings, and a capacity analysis. Plus a written summary explaining what we found and what we recommend.

Can you fix existing Wi-Fi without ripping it out?

Often yes. We can do a survey on existing Wi-Fi, identify gaps, and recommend targeted additions or repositioning before recommending a full replacement. Replacement is the last resort, not the first.
